Sometimes when we're talking money we can be a bit glib about what are really massive sums of money. For example, the Daily Record talks of Dave King losing £20m in the Rangers debacle, while most of us know that, in fact, he only lost £2m. And there's what I'm talking about; only £2m! That's more money than most of us will ever see in a lifetime; although we can hope! For many of us even £2 can be a lot of money, never mind £2m!
With this in mind, I think I owe a huge apology to everybody. Without thinking, I asked folk to get in touch if they wanted my book for free, not considering the fact that they might have to embarrass themselves in the process. I should know better since I'm not exactly flush myself at the moment. From being a teacher, owning my own home and jaunting off on foreign holidays, I'm now on benefits, renting privately and a holiday is when my wife goes to bed and I can watch what I want on the telly! Still, as long as I've got my fags and Irn Bru I'm a happy man!
I'm actually pretty hopeless with money, always have been, so I leave the accounting to my wife, Der Fuhrer. And by God, she's a hard taskmaster when it comes to watching the pennies! If I downloaded a pig-in-a-poke book for 75p and then she discovered I could have got it for nothing it would be the salt mines for me!
So, apologies for any awkwardness or embarrassment caused to anyone. Here's a link where you can download Torrent for free:

Don't forget to give me feedback or, even better, write a review on Amazon! I'll put my other books up soon.
Anyway, back to the nonsense. Hugh Keevins decided to write a petulant article in yesterday's Daily Record about Dermot Desmond and Celtic. He almost revels in telling Desmond that he's talking crap and that Celtic have actually got worse over the years. He brings up the team that Martin O'Neill had as an example. That, my dear Shug, was during the days of the EBTs (remember them?) and Celtic had to spend just to compete with Rangers. As we later discovered, Rangers were actually spending other people's money and Desmond should be congratulated for even attempting to compete with this cheating.
Now, however, the situation is different. Unlike Bisto FC, the rest of us have learned a lesson from what happened to Rangers; that includes Dermot Desmond. Clubs need to live within their means and that is what Desmond is saying that Celtic is doing. Celtic is debt-free; a feat accomplished without swindling creditors or funny business about liquidation-that-pretends-to-be-an-administration. Revenue streams in Scotland are slight and, being realistic, Celtic is not going to be a major force in the Champions League any time soon (though, like all supporters, we can dream!)
Keevins comes across as a bitter Bisto Kid, who has not even properly listened to, or read, what Desmond had to say. He has just taken certain phrases out of context to try to make Desmond look stupid. It was the same a couple of years back when Neil Lennon was asked about having a big squad and joked that maybe he could have one team for Scotland and another for Europe. The Peeppil jumped on this one statement, making out that he was being arrogant when, in fact, he was not. And now Keevins is trying to work the same dodge. He's not going to get his ban lifted that way, is he? And no matter what he writes the Bisto Kids hate him anyway, so he's wasting his time!
Meanwhile, as Brendan points out, McMurdo seems to be dampening down his enthusiasm about Celtic land deals. Instead, Vanguard Bears, that bastion of everything that is great about Britain, including its tolerance, understanding and democracy, have taken up the baton. They claim to have documentary proof of dodgy deals, which they show on their site. This takes the form of a letter, which claims that GCC never informed SEPA of any contamination or abmormal ground conditions at the site sold to Celtic. Unfortunately for The Peeppil they, as usual, don't consider the whole picture. I think they'll find that not all contaminations or abnormal ground conditions need to be referred to SEPA. There is also the small matter of the £7m-odd that it cost to clean up the Belvedere site before it could be sold to housing developers. They think they're unearthing a great conspiracy when, in reality, all they're discovering is normal business practice!
Instead of looking into this fantasy they'd be better served trying to find evidence that Green actually did sell his shares to Ronnie and Reggie. (Oops! Better watch - there's writs flying about concerning that pair!) If Green is no longer involved then why has he suddenly resurfaced at this particular moment, telling all The Peeppil how much he did to save Rangers (sic). It looks as if he's scared of Dave King and his crooked scheme affecting his investment! I can't see any other reason for him popping his head above the parapet at this time. He'll be getting the tea and custard creams ready as I write.
Finally, a big thank you to Mick for publicising my latest book, Torrent, on his blog Bampots Utd. Very much appreciated and I'm eternally grateful. I'm also grateful to everyone that has bought or downloaded my book. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! You can access Mick's blog at the link below. I'll see if I can get some kind of button or something. I'm still learning how to work this stuff!
