ENGERLUND EXPECTS...

Does anybody else remember the run-up to the 2002 World Cup? Once it was discovered that Sweden was going to be in the same group as England the Daily Record ran a tongue-in-cheek campaign called 'Hands off Henrik' or 'Lay off Larsson' or something similar. They wanted other Scottish teams to go easy on him so that he'd be fit to score a bucketload against the 'Auld Enemy'. Different story this year. They're finding it hard to even criticise Clive Tyldsley, who usually comes out with his 'England expects...' bit. There's a wee, tiny bit of criticism against the pundits but none of the usual joy that the DR exhibits when all the English arrogance gets deflated. I wonder what's different about this year!

Meanwhile, another of McMurdo's disciples goes down the racial bigotry route: "Do I not like that imposter gerrard ! Bheggar tims should never captain England. Never Forgive. Never Forget." Somebody was saying the same the other day about Rooney but he managed to score a goal so all is forgiven I suppose. So let's get this straight, Rooney and Gerrard should not be playing for England because they're of Irish descent; presumably they should be playing for the Republic of Ireland. And yet when Aiden McGeady did just that he was called a 'traitor'. Even in the twisted, wee world of The Peeppul that makes no sense!

And the sad wee Belfast man is on again, linking to Football Tax Havens. It's worthwhile having a look at this nonsense and, as the guy himself says, why? Who the hell cares? Celtic haven't shafted shareholders, creditors or the tax man so why are these pathetic insects so obsessed?

Maybe he'd be better asking how a whole club could be bought for a £1, or how Hughie Green got his big, Yorkshire hands on the assets of Rangers for five-and-a-half million quid and then had the ground valued at £30m! Some serious deflecting going on here, albeit of a desperate nature.

I see the vicious thug Sevcoite that beat up a number of girlfriends and threatened them with all manner of weapons has been sent down for life. I think it was only once that we saw him in his Bisto FC shirt, as well as his Nazi tattoos. I'm sure if this was a Celtic supporter they'd be constantly ramming pictures of him with his Celtic top on down our throats, as well as letting us know that he went to one of 'they' schools. His defence QC was, of course, Donald Findlay, who said, "It is quite clear that Mr Montguire has had a number of psychological problems from childhood" Oh, well that's alright, then, the man's obviously a victim. Maybe Findlay should have used the same kind of defence he used for the Kilwinning bombers and argued that the knives and samurai sword were all blunt!

And Bisto FC is living up to its name by getting another aboard the gravy train. Christian Nerlinger, who sounds like a character from The Simpsons, is being taken on as 'Chief Football Operations Officer.' I mean...what in the name of Christ is that? Apparently he's to 'address scouting and recruitment strategies'. I don't know about you but I'm still none the wiser. Isn't Bisto supposed to be cutting back on needless expense? Seemingly this guy used to play for Rangers, although he obviously didn't make much of an impression; even the Daily Record has hesitated to employ their usual label of 'Rangers legend'!

Meanwhile, comedy capers in Dumbarton. A guy (who's eight years younger than me, but looks ten years older) called Stevenson attacked another guy, called Noddy the Proddy, with his crutch. They'd been arguing and fighting in the pub and then took it outside, where Noddy came off worse when Stevenson attacked him with the metal crutch. Stevenson is pursuing a damages claim for his injury, which will probably be screwed now, what with CCTV showing him running after Noddy! Noddy is described as playing in a 'flute band'. Somehow I don't think he's the new Ian Anderson or James Galway!

Noddy is now going to claim damages against Stevenson but he's got as much chance as Stevenson has with his claim. The court accepted, and obviously the evidence showed, that Noddy started the whole thing inside the pub. He hasn't done himself any favours by denying that he knows Stevenson, when, according to everybody else, he does! He even calls the attack 'random'. So that's two chancers going to have their injuries claims laughed out of court - if they ever get that far!

Finally, a story I discovered on Wings Over Scotland. There's a clown that writes for the 'Scottish' Daily Express, called Kerry Gill, who wants the BBC to be even more biased in its coverage of the independence campaign. He says that it's the 'British' Broadcasting Corporation and it should be fighting for the 'right' side, just as it did during WWII. Reading this idiot's article it's difficult to make out which side he would consider the 'right' side in the Second World War! Every article he writes is a tirade against Scottish independence, but this one takes the biscuit, comparing, as the Unionists are wont to do, the SNP with the Nazis.

He brings up the Falklands Conflict, saying how the BBC hardly presented "the Argentinians and the Argentinian way of life in as unbiased manner as was possible." No, but they did question the sinking of the Belgrano, so they hardly slavishly and sycophantically supported what was happening. And yet, now in a peaceful and democratic process the BBC have blatantly taken one side in this debate, as have the rest of the Scottish media.

Gill continues by saying that Scottish indpendence will be 'far more damaging' than the activities of Burgess and Maclean. He missed out Philby and Blunt there, as well as others involved. All of these were upper-class Englishmen that betrayed their country. Blunt and several others were protected by the Establishment and given well-paid sinecures to hide in. The activities of said Establishment in the cover-up were 'far more damaging' than anything done by these spies and hardly make us all feel safe at being linked with this pretence at democracy!

Oh, and Britain will lose its nuclear standing in the world if Scotland becomes independent. Why's that, then? Surely there's somewhere in England they can stick their nuclear subs? Or is it that they know that English people don't want these devices anywhere near them? I've got a suggestion: put them in Ulster. Just drape them in 'flegs' and I'm sure the Ulster Unionists would be perfectly happy to have them sitting in some lough with access to the sea!

The very mention of how the UK will lose its nuclear deterrent if Scotland secedes pretty much proves much of the SNP's point. Nobody wants these bloody things nearby and the fact that they've been dumped on us shows that our opinion counts for nothing in this supposed United Kingdom. Essentially we're just an English colony!
