HARRY POTTER SAYS NO

Although Bisto FC won't give out exact figures, I think we all know that very few season books have been bought this year. The fact that the Union of Fuckwits are just as shy about giving out their figures is no consolation; Bisto needs money. And so they're doing exactly what everybody expected them to do; have a share option to raise funds.

The Daily Record bangs on about a 'share issue' but before such a thing can be even considered, existing shareholders have to be given first refusal on the new shares. The bigger the shareholding you already have, the closer you are to the front of the queue for taking up this share option. And, of course, deals will be made by some investors, demanding more shares as the price for their co-operation. With no line of credit, this is the only way left for the Bisto Board to raise much-needed funds.

Of course, the issuing of new shares under any scheme means that the worth of current shares is diluted. And so The Peeppul get the shitey end of the stick once again. Their original Rangers shares are worthless and now their shares in the new club are going to be worth a lot less than they paid for them; and there's not a thing they can do about it!

To be honest, this looks like the beginning of the end. Large, institutional investors normally don't mind diluting their shares as a short-term strategy since they are banking on the business performing as a going concern. But can this be said about Bisto FC? The share option will only raise enough for a few months' expenditure at best. What they're relying on is a mad rush of new Peeppul snapping up season tickets; if this doesn't happen then they're basically, as the economic experts would say, fucked!

Honest Dave's Trust Fund was meant to drip-feed funds to the club on a game-by-game basis but, by the looks of things, there aren't a lot of funds for them to drip-feed. So, if nobody else buys the season books then the board is going to have to rely on ticket sales once a fortnight. It's not the best way to run a football club. So the only reliable way that Bisto can raise funds is by share options and that is in no way sustainable. If they were to do this even a second time then the AIM Stock Exchange would soon refuse to trade Bisto shares and they would effectively be unable to function as a company.

Some of The Peeppul appear to be overjoyed that administration might well be coming but, as usual, they can't think much past their next meal. There'll be no shady deals this time; the assets will be liquidated and there'll be nothing left that they can call 'Rangers' anymore. Who would have thought that The Peeppul themselves would be the ones to destroy this Frankenstein's Monster?

Meanwhile the Daily Record is in orgasm mode over JK Rowling giving £1 million to the 'No' campaign. The reasons she gives for this are a bit suspect: she is worried that there won't be enough money for research into MS in an independent Scotland. Er...wouldn't a million quid have gone some way to help with this research? It also betrays some of her chauvinism, which was previously in evidence when the first Harry Potter movie was being planned. Steven Spielberg was going to make it but Rowling insisted on a 'British' Harry. The type of actor she wanted soon became clear when the film came out. The protagonist in the books spent his formative years in a cupboard, is skinny and malnourished and has uncontrollable hair. The film version is an upper-class lad, who's never missed a meal in his life, looks healthy and fit and doesn't have so much as a split end in his hair. Equally, Rowling is ignoring the reasearch into MS being done all over the world - it has to be 'British' research!

The Daily Record came back the next day to tell us of the 'vile abuse' that Rowling has received online. When, however, Euromillion winners, Chris and Colin Weir, donated to the 'Yes' campaign the DR could only say that the couple had received 'criticism'. It seems that they're only willing to call it 'abuse' if they agree with the recipients of the abuse.

Finally, yes, I'm on about my book again. What harm would it do to take a look? Click on the picture to go to the information page on Amazon. Here are the reviews so far:

5.0 out of 5 stars A walk down memory lane. 12 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A witty accurate wander through the mess that to this day continues to shame Scottish football. The author has a unique view on the story but may be a bit premature on going to print as the farce continues. A boxed set may be on the cards and I would welcome more of the same . A good read.
