THE REAL CORRUPTION

Keith Jackson has an interview in the Daily Record with the man supposedly behind Blue Pitch Holdings, Beirut lawyer Mazen Houssami. You really have to ask - is that it? Is that what all the secrecy's been about; a Lebanese lawyer? But then, lawyers usually represent somebody else so maybe the whole truth isn't out yet. Wouldn't it be hilarious if it turned out to be something to do with the PLO? That would go down well with The Peeppul!

According to Houssami, he's the one that sacked Charles Green and Imran Ahmad. That's a helluva lot of power for somebody that owns 6.14%! Like everybody else, he's desperate to distance himself from the ones that the Peeppul have come to hate. Jackson, however, can't help making sure the Big Lie is to the fore. He says that Houssami helped "to fund Charles Green’s £5.5million Ibrox takeover two years ago". Takeover? He didn't take over anything; he bought the assets in a shady deal in order to steal money from the creditors.

Meanwhile McMurdo and his disciples are banging on about corruption in football. You've got to laugh at the sheer brass neck of these clowns! I know it's hard to believe, but they're actually having a go at the referees as well! Extremely short memories these Peeppul have, eh?

As usual, these idiots fail to see where their arguments will ultimately lead. One of thems says, "It would take an earth shattering event to happen for all the corruption and blatant cheating to be stopped within the game football. The big problem is actually that it is ‘all about the money’ and that, unfortunately, is probably always going to be the case."

Weren't the efforts to get Green's new club into the SPL 'all about the money'? Wasn't the fact that Sevco got to jump the queue into Division 3 'all about the money'? What could be more corrupt than a team being judged by an organisation that has as its head a character that was closely bound up with the dead team and its cheating? This corruption was evident for all to see in the fiasco of the Nimmo-Smith inquiry, where corrupt individuals bent and twisted the rules to force Nimmo-Smith's hand.

There is also the little matter of the argument that they're all still following 'Rangers', the 'same team'. Who is it they always cite as evidence to prove their case? The very organisations that they are saying are corrupt! How many times have you heard them say that the SFA recognises their team as Rangers? How many times have you heard them say that UEFA recognises their team as Rangers? And yet they complain that these organisations, the SFA, the SPFL and UEFA, are all corrupt to the core. No wonder they're all so violent when they're carrying around all these conflicting ideas in their heads!

Stanley Baxter has come out on the side of 'Better Together', showing a complete lack of understanding of the issues involved. He says, "They don't know any better. It's got to do with these dreadful films they've made, anti-English films and that wretched Australian (Mel Gibson) ... Braveheart - it's not even correct historically." What the hell does he mean, "they don't know any better"? How patronising can you get? So really, what he's saying is that folk in Scotland are too thick to govern themselves; we need the English to oversee us as we can't be trusted. What a fucking cheek!

He goes on to say, "I could never have achieved that success north of the border if I'd stuck there. It wouldn't have happened." So the success he achieved in Scotland, including sell-out pantomimes, television shows etc counted for nothing? It's difficult to see exactly what he's on about; it's not as if he was in the same position as Billy Connolly of having to pretend to be a Partick Thistle supporter so as not to be a victim of bigotry. In other words; he's talking shite.

He also bangs on about anti-English racism, a favourite theme of the Better Together mob, saying, "Scots can deny it as much as they like, but I've seen a lot of anti-English sentiment expressed north of the border but never anti-Scots sentiments south of the border." He must be both as blind and deaf as Vincent Lunny, then. Didn't he see and hear all the anti-Scottish bile directed at Gordon Brown during the last election? Hasn't he heard all the guff about Scottish 'benefit junkies' living off the taxes of the hard-working English?

I knew lots of English people at university and I never encountered any of this mythical 'anti-Englsih' feeling. There was one type of English person that nobody, including many English folk themselves couldn't stand. I once went to an induction day to join the OTC, the Officers' Training Corps. This was in order to get more money, since you got paid for doing this stuff. Anyway, about two dozen of us were taken by bus to Dundee. All of the folk on the bus came from the south of England, apart from myself and the friend that I had persuaded to come with me.

This OTC unit was part of a Scottish regiment, I forget which one, but everyone that spoke to us was English, the officers, the private soldiers and, as I have said, the ones looking to join. The only Scottish person was a sergeant-major, who studiously kept his mouth shut. Throughout the morning we heard about the 'Jawks' in the army, whose stupidity and clumsiness was a constant source of concern. We were shown the standard weapon of the British Army, the SLR, which we were assured was foolproof, but not 'Jawk-proof'. I was extremely insulted at this and I think it showed as I was told that I hadn't been accepted. Rather hilariously when I asked why, I was told that that was 'classified'!

This was my first experience of 'White Settlers' in Scotland. I moved to Edinburgh after graduating and the place is full of this type of person. These are not representative of the vast majority of English people, but are part of a small group from the south of England, who still think that Britannia, or, rather, England, rules the waves. These are the kind of folk that will shout at a foreigner, thinking that everyone should understand God's own language. They're the ones that you'll find on a holiday abroad, congregating in English pubs and staying as far away from Johnny Foreigner as possible. They act the same in Scotland: they swan about as if they own the place and view the natives as creatures that are just there to serve them. It is this type that most Scottish people cannot stand. It has nothing to do with anti-English racism and everything to do with not wanting to be treated as a colony!

Stanley Baxter comes from an old-fashioned, middle-class, theatrical elite, who know nothing whatsoever about ordinary, working-class Scotland. Have a look at old sketches done by the likes of Baxter, Jimmy Logan, Rikki Fulton etc where they put on a working-class, Scottish accent. They speak nothing at all like real people do and seem to get their ideas of how ordinary folk speak, act and feel from the pages of the Sunday Post. Baxter has got no idea at all of what is going on in Scotland and is obviously just regurgitating what he is reading in the right-wing press.

Finally, Phil Mac Giolla Bhain says on his blog, "The failure of the mainstream media to adequately report the terminal collapse of Rangers is well documented . In fact there is a book about it in the shops now." You don't think he means 'Clash of the Agnivores' do you? I can't think of any other book on the subject, so he must. It's not a direct plug, but it's a plug nonetheless! Unfortunately, the book is not actually available in the shops. You need to get if from Amazon.

  1. I too went to the Glasgow Uni OTC for cash and access to better weapons. Mostly upper class English too.
The jawk RSM one day walked up and down the rememberence day line ordering 'I want you all to look like good proud proddies'.
The UC english piped up that they were actually catholics and rather proud of it. He obviously remained quiet knowing who he was up against. Turns out in discussions that their aristocracy refused to bow to new sect. Redford officers mess might has well had a picture of the Pope instead of the lizzie.
